Consistency It goes without saying that quality is king in today’s demanding environment. Achieving high quality results is one just one aspect of the challenge. Maintaining repeatable quality is an added dimension that the Lean Academy can assist. The use of detailed modeling techniques from Six Sigma and work standardization (Kaizen) and process control are tools to achieve improved consistency. Supported by our experts cross functional teams collaborate to produce well written standardized operating procedures (SOP) that provide clear direction to improve efficiency, reduce training time and result in greater consistency. Applying techniques such as quality at source (QAS) aims to catch defects as early in the production process as possible. This prevents value being added to a piece that is already defective. While this concept is simple implementation needs to consider inspection techniques, employee empowerment to take decisions and that the cross skilling of teams. Techniques such as visual aids with examples of clear and marginal defects help employees to make fast and accurate decisions. The detailed systems thinking that goes behind supporting such quality improvement is what makes our approach consultants different. We are not menu driven or tool orientated. We understand the need for results but we give our clients the skills and support to embed tried and tested techniques into their organizations.
